Cinema Politica Whistler screens independent documentary films Monday nights in November and December at the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) in Whistler. The films cover important socio-political, environmental, cultural and economic issues in Canada and worldwide. Cinema Politica Whistler is presented by the SLCC and LUNA.
Cinema Politica (CP) is the largest grassroots documentary screening network in North America. CP’s main objective is to promote, disseminate, exhibit and promote the discussion of political cinema by independent artists with an emphasis on works that tell stories underrepresented by mainstream media, including narratives around political struggles within Canada, and stories that deal with oppression and/or identity politics. For more information about the Cinema Politica network click here.
Admission is by donation and is open to everyone. Facilitator-led discussions follow each screening. Doors open at 6:30PM, films begin at 7:00PM with discussion afterwards. Inspire the activist in you!
Cinema Politica has finished for the winter season. Join us again for a brand new series starting November 2010. |
