Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge!

If you’ve got sneakers, are over 18 and don’t have a heart condition, you’re qualified to play Dodgeball with LUNA.

This popular monthly series happens every second Friday of the month until March 2011 at the Whistler Secondary gym in Alpine from 8-10PM.

Friday Feb 11 2011 * PLAY PRISONBALL VARIATION
Friday Mar 11 2011

Cost to play is $8 per drop-in /$5.50 with LUNA card (membership cards are available for 18-35s at the door).

The object of dodgeball is to eliminate the opposing team by getting them ‘out’. This is done by hitting them with a dodgeball, or catching a dodgeball before it hits you.  We start by placing the balls along the center line, and upon the sound of the whistle, players run from the far walls to grab as many balls as they can manage without getting hit. Players must stay within the lines while they dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge, and if the referee says you’re out, you join your team members waiting on the sidelines. We play a few variations of the game each evening.

Choose to dress up or down, bring friends or come alone… any way you play, it’s a great night out.

PRISONBALL VARIATION
Prisonball is played similar to the original, but with a ‘prison’ behind the opposing team’s lines. To get out of prison, a team member must catch a ball thrown by the opposing team, without it having touched the ground first. While in prison, players may attempt to hit any of their opposing team from behind when a ball enters their area. Teams must now dodge, duck, dive, dip and… dodge balls coming at them from two sides.

Greece, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, Japan and New Zealand all have their own versions of this game. LUNA will play a few of them on February 11.
