:: History ::
The LUNA program is a result of action to address complaints from visitors about late-night alcohol-related noise & disturbances in Whistler Village. With assistance from the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) Bylaw Services, Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) conducted nine trial events in 2003 with great response.
In September 2003 LUNA Grantwriter, Kiran Pal-Pross, acquired funding to offer events on a weekly basis, and became the full-time Coordinator.
In order to retain its insurance policy, WCSS handed LUNA to the RMOW in December 2004. LUNA became a Recreation Services program in the RMOW Community Life department.

LUNA operates with one full-time Coordinator, one casual Program Leader, up to 12 young adult Event Trainees, and a number of casual volunteers.
:: Addressing Needs ::
LUNA is a documented priority in the Whistler 2020 Strategy. The Recreation & Leisure, Health & Social, and Arts & Culture Task Forces have indicated actions necessary to support young adults and their healthy recreation in Whistler.
LUNA continues to counteract the imbalance of alcohol-focussed nightlife in Whistler with alcohol-free alternatives. As a result, locals. seasonal workers and visitors receive a healthier, better quality, Whistler experience.
LUNA appreciates any kind of support from local businesses and organizations, whether it is sponsorship, donated prizes for events, a place to showcase our weekly posters, volunteers, or word-of-mouth advertising.
