Event Training and Volunteering

Volunteer.. .. .. ..

Let us know i f you'd like to help out on an on-call basis without receiving training, and which events interest you most. We'd love to hear from you. Get your application >HERE

LUNA volunteers must be able to work late evenings, usually Tuesday or Friday nights, and have a reliable way home.

No experience is needed, however ideal candidates have a desire to give back to their community, are resourceful, reliable, positive, a good host to our guests, and a friendly addition to the LUNA team. After five volunteer sessions, you'll be on our guest list for five LUNA-run events!

Event Training

In November each year, up to 10 people (age 18-35) are chosen to participate in LUNA's Community Event Coordination training program.

This 11-month program (can be fast-tracked) includes six in-class training sessions with industry professionals:

  • Risk Management
  • Consummate Communications
  • Event Management and Marketing
  • Sponsorship & Fundraising
  • Media Communications
  • Whistler Spirit - after which you are eligible for a discounted ski pass.

Trainees assist with LUNA operations and promotion, gradually taking on more responsibilities until capable of coordinating an event. Upon successful completion of the program, a Community Event Coordination certificate is awarded, endorsed by the RMOW and RCMP.

Along with in-class training and hands-on event coordination experience, Volunteers receive bonus perks, including a LUNA hoodie, Spirit Pass (discounted ski pass) eligibility, media appearances and that tingly feeling you get from helping to make your community a better place.

Thank you, I obtained a lot from your program, I'm glad I participated in it, and keep up the good job!" Magda Kwaterska

"This is a great, original program that should be incorporated into all communities and cities. Alternatives to going out and drinking are far and few between adn I hope that it is part of a new wave for the future. Yeah LUNA!" comment from anonymous survey
